The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office said people are getting odd phone calls from someone claiming to be from the office.

It's not a scam call seeking money or gift cards. Instead, it's conversations that take a strange turn.

The caller states that the office had served a subpoena on the individual being called, and starts a conversation that turns "weird or inappropriate," according to a message on the office's Facebook page.

The sheriff's office asked anyone who gets a suspicious call from someone claiming to be from the Sheriff's Office to call the real office at 603-679-2225.
