South Berwick, Maine, Fire Damages Condo Units
The South Berwick Fire Department responded to a fire in the roof of a building at a condo complex on Saturday.
The smoky fire in the Woodland Hills Condominium damaged the roof and caused extensive fire, smoke, and water damage to two of the four units, according to the South Berwick Fire Department.
Two large holes were left in the house because of the fire. Red Cross of Northern New England assisted some residents, according to the department
The department said that the chords held the roof up despite many disconnected webs. Firefighters stayed off the roof and used caution while overhauling beneath the roof.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
It's the second fire in South Berwick in the past two weeks.
A house on Webster Street was completely destroyed on May 9 by a fire, according to the South Berwick Fire Department. A GoFundMe page said the family not only lost their home, but also a car and a pet.
