Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth Collaborates with Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland
While doing research on pet-friendly lodging in Maine, I stumbled upon something that warmed my heart right up.
The Inn by the Sea has been collaborating with the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland for the last four years, sheltering foster dogs at the Inn where they can live a lavish life until they find their new home.
As their website shares, since the collaborations started, 154 dogs have been adopted and moved into loving homes after temporarily living in the Inn.
Visitors are welcomed in the lobby by the shelter pups and the staff feeds, cares for, walks, and loves the dogs. The Inn typically gets about 45 dogs each year to seek refuge at the Inn until they meet their special family.
This sounds like the best vacation you could possibly have; guests are welcome to walk and play with the foster dogs, increasing the chances of a dog going home with a family.
