A crash brought down a utility pole near the Apple Hill golf course in East Kingston for the second Saturday in a row.

One of the firefighters was driving home with his children and had nearly hit the car before it crashed into a utility pole.

New Hampshire State Police said the vehicle was traveling on Burnt Swamp Road (Route 107A) when it crashed at around 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

A 2009 Scion heading south on Stumpfield Road crossed the road and went into the woods near North Road around 10 p.m., according to State Police.

Firefighters were able to prevent heavy damage to the house, and the homeowner will be able to return once power is restored to the home on Haverhill Road.

The house on the same property on Rowell Road was spared major impact from the fire with only melted siding.

"Pets are like family, and you could tell by the look on the owner's face how important this was to her," East Kingston Fire Chief Ed Warren said of the effort to stand up Pearl, the 1,900 lb draft horse, after a fall.

Pearl likely caught the edge of a piece of ice just right at Hollow Hollow Farm in East Kingston, became unsure of her footing, and went down to her side.

A boy in the RAV 4 was taken to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital's Trauma Unit.
