The New Hampshire state fire marshal's office is still investigating the origin and cause of a fire in Seabrook that left one person dead and another in the hospital earlier this month.

According to a press release from the state fire marshal, the victim of the 21 Spruce Court fire has been identified as 69-year-old Eileen Doherty of Seabrook.

The New Hampshire medical examiner's office ruled the accidental cause of death to be smoke inhalation, the fire marshal's office stated.

Multiple fire and police crews responded to the blaze on March 10 after a neighbor reported the fire late in the evening of March 10, per a previous report.

Officer David Hersey of the Seabrook Police Department arrived first to the fire and made the brave decision to go inside to try and help anyone inside, a Facebook post from Teamsters Local 633 stated.

He was able to pull one person from the burning building. That person was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment.

State Fire Marshal Paul J. Parisi noted in the press release the importance of maintaining working smoke alarms, keeping exits clear, and having heating systems inspected and maintained regularly.
