An unofficial count by Seacoast Current shows State Police responded to at least four fatal crashes involving drivers and pedestrians during the past week.
Portsmouth Police Det. Rochelle Jones had to use her skills as a police officer, crisis negotiator, and a person who keeps their word to get a man to come off the Piscataqua River Bridge.
The closure brought traffic to a standstill on both sides of the Route 95 bridge and created big delays through downtown Portsmouth as drivers tried to use the other bridges.
