A driver was killed on Route 293 in Manchester Sunday night when he lost control and was thrown from his motorcycle, capping off a deadly week on New Hampshire highways.

New Hampshire State Police said a motorcycle driven by Adam Young, 42, of Manchester was on the "S" curve south of Exit 6 around 8:10 p.m., and hit the guardrail on the right side of the road before coming to a stop in the breakdown lane.

Young was taken to Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing into what caused Young to lose control. Police asked any witnesses to the crash to call 603-223-8492.

An unofficial count by Seacoast Current shows that State Police responded to at least four fatal crashes involving drivers and pedestrians during the past seven days.

The DMV Fatal Crash Unit reports a total of 50 traffic fatalities in New Hampshire in 2022, with seven involving motorcycles.
