Clouds and Chill Can’t Stop Portsmouth, NH’s Grand Parade
Cloudy skies couldn't stop the Portsmouth 400 Grand Parade on Saturday.
"Oh my goodness Portsmouth do you ever know how to throw a parade," one group wrote on their Facebook page about the parade.
From the Portsmouth High School Clippers to marching band members and alumni, veterans riding in DeLoreans from VFW Post 168, the Portsmouth 400 float showing the city's history as a welcoming city, and crepe paper flowers made by the Garden Club, thousands lined the parade route.
"Though it was chilly, it was such a great turnout," another group wrote.
More than 500 viewers watched the parade on a live video stream by Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club.
"Large, happy crowds! The Portsmouth High School & Alumni Clipper Band was fantastic. It was a day of reunions with the musicians and then the reunion HMS Minerva sailors from 1973 side by side with British sailors from HMS Scott," Portsmouth 400 spokeswoman Stephanie Seacord told Seacoast Current.
