A Raymond man was charged with aggravated driving under the influence after a head on crash on Route 202 in Rochester Sunday afternoon hospitalized the other driver with serious injuries.

Several drivers stopped to help at the crash scene just before 3 p.m. near Blue Bird Storage that heavily damaged a Toyota RAV 4 and a Toyota Tacoma pick up driven by Scott Boire, 37, according to Rochester Police. A preliminary investigation indicates the Tacoma crossed the yellow line and hit the RAV 4.

The driver of the RAV 4 had to be extricated and was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with possibly life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The RAV 4 wound up on the side of the roadway while the Tacoma was on its side in the middle of the road.

Boire was charged and taken to the Strafford County Jail.

Route 202 was closed for about six hours while the Strafford County Regional Technical Accident Reconstruction Team assisted with the investigation.
