Police are looking for whoever was driving a vehicle that struck the historic Jackson Bridge on Sunday night and left.

A white Subaru Legacy hit the covered bridge on Route 16A, causing damage to the wood on a corner where the bridge meets the pavement around 8 p.m., according to New Hampshire State Police. The sedan is missing its passenger side mirror and has damage to the passenger side wheel well.

Police consider the damage to be minor.

Anyone with information about the hit is asked by State Police to call 603-323-3333.

The bridge, also called the Honeymoon Bridge, was built in 1876, spans the Ellis River, and is a popular spot for tourists. It is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, according to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
