A Somersworth woman was charged with stalking and arson after a lit rag was found hanging out of a gas tank late Thursday night.

The rag was found on a car parked at a residence on Indigo Hill Road around 11:45 p.m.. Jennifer Ashley Neal, 34, of Rochester was arrested and charged with resisting arrest or detention, breach of bail conditions, stalking, arson – insurance or serious bodily injury, and reckless conduct – deadly weapon.

Police did not disclose how the rag was discovered, why it was left, or the extent of the damage to the vehicle involved.

Neal is being held at the Strafford County House of Corrections on Preventative Detention. Her detention hearing is scheduled for Monday.
