A Rochester mobile home was a total loss after a fire early Sunday morning.

The Rochester Fire Department used water from nearby Baxter Lake to put out the fire in the Baxter Lake Recreation Area off Four Rod Road around 6:20 a.m., Rochester Deputy Fire Chief Adam Hughes told Seacoast Current. The lone occupant and their dog made it out of the home safely, according to Hughes.

The identity of the resident was not disclosed.

Hughes said a shed on the property was also damaged.

The fire department said the fire serves as a reminder to make sure smoke, CO and fire detectors are all working. Also, with the weather getting colder home heat sources should be inspected, cleaned and maintained for the season.

The Rochester Voice was first to report about the fire.
