It was a murder-suicide that claimed the life of a man and woman inside a Dover house Tuesday afternoon.

Attorney General John Formella said an autopsy determined that Catherine Navish, 58, was smothered by Sean Navish, 56, inside the home on Dowaliby Court in Dover. Sean Navish then intentionally asphyxiated himself. Catherine Navish's cause of death was asphyxiation by smothering, and her manner of death was homicide.

Formella did not disclose the relationship between the two.

Police were called to the home around 3:15 p.m. by a home care service asking for a welfare check.

Formella said the investigation is ongoing into what led to their deaths.
