A motorcyclist was seriously injured early Friday morning when he was struck by a driver charged with drunk driving on Route 125 in Plaistow.

Matthew Wilson, 28, of Haverhill was driving south around 12:30 a.m. near the Plaza 125 shopping plaza when he was struck by a northbound vehicle making a left turn, according to Plaistow Police.

Wilson was seriously injured in his lower extremities and was taken via Boston MedFlight medical helicopter to Tufts Medical Center.

The driver of the vehicle, Joshua Somma, 27, of Fremont,was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated. He was taken into custody and later released on bail. He will be arraigned on August 5 in Rockingham Superior Court.

Police asked any witnesses to the crash to contact them at 603-382-1200.

It was the second crash on Route 125 involving a motorcyclist from Haverhill within the past ten days.

Michael Roy, 21, of Haverhill was traveling north on Route 125 on June 21 and was struck and killed by a vehicle making a left turn.
