A Hampton woman was charged with DUI in connection with a pedestrian who was struck on Winnacunnet Road.

Hampton Police Captain Anthony Azarian said the pedestrian was found in the road near Towle Avenue on August 30 around 9:35 p.m., and was receiving medical attention when officers arrived. The pedestrian was take to a hospital for treatment of serious bodily injuries.

An investigation determined the driver was Karen Haraden, 59, of Hampton, according to Azarian.  She was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She is being held at the Rockingham County Jail under protective custody, pending a hearing October 5.

Azarian did not disclose the circumstances of the crash, if Haraden remained at the scene, or the identity of the pedestrian.
