A person working underneath a camper at a Hampstead campground died when the support system failed Sunday afternoon.

Hampstead Police said a male was working on the camper at the Sunset Lake Campground on Emerson Avene around 1:55 p.m. when it fell on top of him. A Hampstead Town Highway front end loader was used to lift the camper and remove the individual from underneath.

The person was pronounced dead at the campground. Police did not disclose the identify of the individual, pending notification of family or the owner of the camper.

Sunset Park Campground is a privately owned campground open since 1976.
