The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a boat that never returned from a fishing trip off Hampton Harbor Wednesday.

The US Coast Guard Sector Northern New England said Michael Sai and three others went out on the 17-foot white center console boat headed for Jeffreys Ledge in the Gulf of Maine east of Portsmouth. It is an underwater plateau that runs from southern Maine to northern Massachusetts.

An overturned boat was spotted seven miles northeast of Cape Ann Thursday afternoon. No one was seen in the water around the boat.

A helicopter, airplane, two cutters, and Coast Guard stations in Portsmouth Harbor, Merrimack River, and Gloucester were involved in the search.

Anyone with information about the boat should call 207-767-0303.
