First Night 2024 Logo Unveiled by Pro Portsmouth
First Night Portsmouth is back for another year, as its logo was unveiled Thursday by Pro Portsmouth.
A snow globe designed by Kelly Goodwin was selected as the winner of a design contest to represent the annual family-friendly, alcohol-free New Year's Eve celebration. The design will be featured on First Night merchandise available for purchase online as part of a partnership with Blue Dolphin Screenprint & Embroidery.
Second place in the logo contest went to Carolyn Vibbert, and third to Alexa Baryiames of the Portsmouth High School graphics class.
It's the second time Goodwin has designed the logo for a Pro Portsmouth event. She designed the 2022 Market Square Day logo.
First Night needs financial support
Pro Portsmouth Executive Director Barbara Masar said underwriters, sponsors, and donors are needed for this year's event to help raise the $20,000 needed to fund the ice sculptures, fireworks, and police details.
"Over the years, First Night Portsmouth has become another destination event on the Seacoast,” Massar said in a statement. “We are able to attract and entertain not only our friends and neighbors, but people who travel from all over the country to spend the holidays with us, enjoy the city. But in order to keep the event on the calendar, we need everyone’s support.”
Sponsorship information can be found on the ProPortsmouth.org website.
