🔥 A firefighter was helped after calling 'mayday'

A firefighter is okay after calling a mayday while fighting a garage fire in Greenland Tuesday night.

The fire broke out in a garage next to the Country View restaurant on Route 33, Greenland Fire Chief Ralph Cresta told Seacoast Current.

"One of the firefighters gets hit with a garage door and he's fine. Nothing spectacular. He's fine. He's home. It was just one of those things. The garage door came down on him after they propped it up," Cresta said.

The chief said the fire started in a corner of the garage, which is primarily used for storage. An investigation was scheduled for Wednesday.

The Portsmouth Fire Department also responded to the fire.

Mayday is called by a firefighter who believes they cannot safely exit a situation and need immediate help.
