Somersworth Police are offering a special Ghostbusters patch just in time for Halloween.

The patch with the iconic ghost first introduced in the 1984 movie of the same name was posted on the department Facebook page Tuesday, and became an instant hit. When someone asked how to get a patch, the email address for Officer Scott South was posted. His inbox filled quickly.

Scott joked that he is old enough to remember the original version with Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Rick Moranis, and Harold Ramis.

Scott, a resource officer at Somersworth High School, said the patch was the idea of a dispatcher who has also designed patches for domestic violence, breast cancer awareness, and the military. This has proven to be the most popular. The first order of 100 are spoken for, and another 100 have been ordered.

The patches are priced at $10 each, and benefit scholarships and school events sponsored by the Somersworth Police Association. They can be ordered from Scott via email at ssouth@somersworthnh.gov.
