Lee, New Hampshire, Solves the Mystery of the Manure

The company responsible for dumping a load of chicken manure on Route 125 in Lee had come forward and taken responsibility for the mishap.

The road was closed late Thursday morning when a dump truck left the manure in the southbound lanes in front of the Lee Marketplace.

Lee Police Chief Todd Dronsfield told Seacoast Current that several tips and video footage from several businesses helped identify the company responsible as LCB Transportation out of Fremont. Several blurry pictures of the truck that dropped the load were initially released by police.

"I met with the owner this morning and he advised that neither he nor the driver were aware of the spillage. He is very cooperative and will be working with the state and anyone affected to take care of the incident and any damages," Dronsfield said.

LCB is working with their insurance company to also compensate drivers affected by the spill. Dronsfield said on the department's Facebook page that anyone affected can call the department at (603) 659-5866.

The manure was vacuumed and the affected area cleaned by a professional company, according to Dronsfield.

The manure had to be treated as if it were hazardous waste until it was identified as coming from chickens.
