A medical episode may have caused the third fatal crash in Kittery in the past week Sunday.

Kittery Police said Richard Parker, 69, of Eliot crashed his Toyota Camry into a tree on Dennett Road near the Dennett Road Extension around 6:50 p.m. Parker was unconscious and the only person in the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of death is under investigation by the Maine Medical Examiner’s Office, although it appears he suffered a medical episode before crashing.

A Lee man died after suffering a medical episode and colliding head-on with a pickup truck on Route 236 in Kittery Wednesday afternoon.

One person was killed in a head-on crash on the Route 1 Bypass May 19 at the York border.
