Crews in New Hampshire and Maine made great progress towards restoration of power from Monday's snowfall as another storm heads for the Seacoast with more heavy wet snow and gusty winds that could cause more outages.

Eversource, Unitil, the New Hampshire Electric Power Co-op, and Central Maine Power all brought in extra crews to help with repairs.

Unitil met its goal of having the majority of its customers restored by midday Wednesday. The utility also has an eye on the next storm, which is expected to start as heavy snow Wednesday afternoon before turning to a wintry mix and eventually rain during the overnight hours Thursday morning.

“We are fortunate to have seen snow unload from limbs during the day today, but we remain concerned about the compounding effect of these storms on the system,” spokesman Alec O’Meara said.

Eversource provided a temporary generator to Durham Police headquarters after their generator failed on Tuesday.

"Our crews have restored approximately 217K customers since the storm began, and have cleared 212 blocked roads and set 42 broken poles. We’ll continue to work through the night and into Wednesday until all are restored," Eversource wrote on its Facebook page. 900 line, tree, and service crews were working Tuesday on restoration.

The New Hampshire Electric Power Co-op came close to meeting its goal of having most customers restored Tuesday night; the vast majority of its customers after a peak of 4,000 customers out statewide.

Central Maine Power said it would have the "vast majority" of its customers restored Tuesday, but still had several thousand without power as of 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

"We appreciate our customers patience as our crews continue to make repairs and restore power," the company wrote on its Facebook page.
