New Hampshire Runs Out of Free At-Home COVID-19 Tests
New Hampshire has run out of its free at-home COVID-19 test kits in less than 24 hours after they became available.
The Quidel's QuickVue At-Home OTC COVID-19 Test were made available as part of a partnership called "Say Yes! COVID Test" via the state's COVID-19 website on Monday afternoon.
A member of the "Say Yes" partnership told WMUR that 100,000 households ordered the kits.
When attempting to order a kit Tuesday morning a message appeared indicating there are no more kits available.
"Thank you for your interest in Say Yes! COVID Test. We have had an overwhelming response to the initiative and have already exhausted the limited supply available for home delivery," read the message.
"With demand for at-home test kits high, the state’s initial supply of kits have been ordered and are in the process of being delivered to homes across New Hampshire," Brandon Pratt, a spokesman for Gov. Chris Sununu, told Seacoast Current in an email. "Our team is working with our federal partners to determine the possibility of replenishing supply, however, as always community-based testing remains available."
Tests are also available at many hospitals, urgent care facilities and pharmacies through out the state. There is also a state testing facility at the Mall at Fox Run in Newington.
Downturn in COVID-19 Cases
The news comes as the number of new positive cases down 17% to 868. Rockingham County is reporting 1,251 active cases, the most in the state, while Strafford County is reporting 646 active cases.
Gov. Chris Sununu is holding a coronavirus briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
