The Last Gasp of the Blizzard of 2022 – More Winter on the Way
Tuesday night will be the last time you'll have to deal with the Blizzard of 2022 in Portsmouth and Somersworth, but there may be more wintry weather to deal with.
City Public Works crews will be doing their snow load-out operations Tuesday night in order to do one more cleanup of the 11 inches of snow that fell in Portsmouth.
It also means that all vehicles must be moved off downtown Portsmouth streets by the following times:
- 7:30 p.m. in Area 1 (yellow on the map below)
- 9:30 p.m. in Area 2 (green on the map below)
- 12:30 a.m. in Area 3. (magenta on the map below)
The work is expected to be completed by 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2.
Residents can park for a special rate at the Foundry ($3) and Hanover ($5) garages by showing a valid registration or driver's license with a Portsmouth address.
Dover is implementing a downtown parking ban Tuesday night starting at 8 p.m. continuing through 6 a.m. Wednesday on the following streets:
• Central Avenue, from Trakey Street to Kirkland Street (both sides)
• Church Street, from Central Avenue to Locust Street (right side)
• Hale Street, from Central Avenue to Locust Street (both sides)
• Locust Street, in front of the Library
• Locust Street, from Hale Street to Saint Thomas Street (right side)
• Saint Thomas Street, from Central Avenue to Locust Street (both sides)
• Locust Street, from Saint Thomas Street to Washington Street (left side)
• Washington Street, from Belknap Street to Central Avenue (both sides)
• Washington Street, from Central Avenue to Water Street (both sides)
• Henry Law Avenue, from Central Ave to the parking lot (left side)
• Main Street, from Washington Street to School Street (left side)
• Main Street, from Chapel Street to Broadway (right side)
• Broadway, from Central Avenue to St. John’s Street (both sides)
• First Street, corner of Central Avenue and First Street (left side)
• Second Street, from Central Avenue to Chestnut Street (both sides)
• Third Street, from Central Avenue to Chestnut Street (both sides)
• Fourth Street, from Central Avenue to Chestnut Street (both sides)

A parking ban will be in effect on Central Avenue in Dover Wednesday morning from 1 a.m. until 6 a.m. between Fourth Street to Kirkland Street.
Somersworth did a similar clean-up Monday night.
More Wintery Weather
Occasional snow showers and some areas of freezing drizzle may develop Tuesday night into Wednesday, and could make roads slippery. Temperatures will rise into the 30s and 40s Wednesday afternoon.
There's another chance of wintry weather Thursday night into Friday, as temperatures drop again. The storm could bring accumulating snow to the mountains with a mix of precipitation for the Seacoast.
