The driver of a pickup was killed when his pickup hit a tree and burst into flames early Thursday morning in Rollinsford.

The state fire marshal's office said an initial investigation determined the driver lost control on a curve around 3:25 a.m. while driving on Baer Road. The pickup went off the road, and the truck became fully engulfed in flames.

The Rollinsford Fire Department found the male driver in the truck. His identity was not disclosed by the state fire marshal's office.

An autopsy determined the driver's cause of death was thermal inhalation injuries, and the manner of death accidental.

The state fire marshal's office asked anyone with information about the crash to call 603-223-4289.

Four people died in a head-on crash on Route 4 in September, when a 2014 Subaru Forester traveling eastbound on Portland Avenue (Route 4) crossed into the westbound lanes and into oncoming traffic, colliding with a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan.
