A couple who has not been seen since Monday was shot to death while walking on a path in the woods near their home.

Concord police announced during the week that they were searching for Stephen Reid, 67, and wife Djeswende Reid, 66. They were last seen on Sunday at a family member's home in Concord, and spoke to family and friends via telephone on Monday. Family reported them missing to police on Tuesday.

Late Thursday, Attorney General John M. Formella said police were investigating the "suspicious deaths" of two adults in the Concord Heights section of Concord, but did not disclose their identities. Formella said that the bodies of the Reids were found early Thursday evening on the Broken Ground Trails.

Detectives said the couple went for a walk on the trail around 2:20 p.m.Monday afternoon.

An autopsy by Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg concluded that the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, and that the manner of death was homicide for both.

Concord Police are asking nearby residents and businesses to check their security video systems for the Reids. Formella asked anyone with information to call Concord Police at 603-225-8600 or Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100.
